Payment Methods
Last updated:
This page explains how paying for a Mug Mellow order works: where you see the available payment options, which currency prices are shown in, how tax is handled, when your payment is taken, what happens if a payment is declined, and how refunds return to you. We keep it simple and honest. We only describe options that you can actually use at checkout, and the checkout page itself is always the final word on what is available for your order.
Paying at a glance
- Payment options: the options available for your order are shown on the checkout page before you pay.
- Currency: all prices are in US dollars (USD).
- Sales tax: Mug Mellow does not collect sales tax at checkout.
- Shipping: free to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so the total is the product price.
- Card details: handled by the payment provider, never stored by Mug Mellow.
- Help: support@mugmellow.shop, replies within 24 hours on business days.
1. Where to find the available payment options
When you reach checkout, after you enter your contact details and shipping address, the payment section lists the ways you can pay for that order. Only options that are set up and working are shown there. If you do not see a payment option you were hoping to use, it is not currently offered. We would rather show a short, accurate list than promise a method that does not work on the day you order.
If the checkout shows no way to complete payment, please do not try to work around it. Email support@mugmellow.shop with what you were trying to order and we will reply within 24 hours on business days.
1.1 We never take payment by email
We will never ask you to send card numbers, bank details or passwords by email, chat or message, and we never send links asking you to pay outside our checkout. If you receive a message like that claiming to be from Mug Mellow, do not reply or click; forward it to us so we can confirm it is not from us.
2. Prices and currency
Every price on mugmellow.shop is in US dollars. That includes the 11 oz and 15 oz ceramic mugs, the two-tone and specialty mugs, travel mugs, tumblers and kids cups. A 15 oz version of a ceramic design costs a few dollars more than the 11 oz, and a 30 oz tumbler costs more than its 20 oz version; the product page shows the exact price for the size or colour you choose before you add it to your cart.
2.1 Paying from Canada, Australia or New Zealand
If your card or account is in Canadian, Australian or New Zealand dollars, your bank or payment provider converts the US dollar amount at its own exchange rate, and may add its own foreign transaction fee. Those conversions and fees are set by your bank, not by Mug Mellow, and they appear on your statement rather than at our checkout. If you are unsure, ask your bank before ordering.
3. What the total includes
| Part of the total | How it works |
|---|---|
| Product price | The price shown on the product page for the size, colour or set you choose, in USD |
| Personalisation | Included in the product price; names, dates and photos cost nothing extra |
| Shipping | Free to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with no minimum |
| Sales tax | Not collected by Mug Mellow at checkout |
| Duties or import taxes | Depend on the destination country; contact us if a carrier asks for payment |
| Currency conversion | Set by your bank or payment provider if you pay in another currency |
4. When your payment is taken
Your payment is taken when you place the order and the payment is approved. The order then moves to processing, which takes 1-3 business days, and is shipped free with an estimated 7-14 business days in transit. Nothing is printed until the payment is complete, so an order left at “pending payment” does not go into production.
4.1 Changes that change the price
If you change an order within 24 hours, for example switching a family names mug from 11 oz to 15 oz, we explain any difference in price in our confirmation email. An increase is paid before printing; a decrease is refunded to you within 7 days of confirming the change. See Cancel or Change an Order.
5. Keeping your payment safe
Payments are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout, over an encrypted connection. Mug Mellow does not see or store your full card number. We receive only what we need to fulfil and support the order, such as a confirmation that payment was approved, the amount and the last few digits or a reference for the payment. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
- Check that the address bar shows https://mugmellow.shop before entering any details.
- Use a device and network you trust.
- Never share one-time passcodes sent by your bank with anyone, including people claiming to be from Mug Mellow.
6. If a payment is declined
A declined payment is decided by your bank or the payment provider, not by us, and we are not told the reason. The most common causes are simple to fix:
- A typing error in the card number, expiry date or security code.
- A billing address that does not match the one your bank has on file.
- A daily spending limit, or a block on international or online purchases.
- A security check by your bank, which sometimes needs you to approve the payment in your banking app.
Try again after checking the details, or contact your bank. Your cart is kept while you do. If it still does not work, email us and we will help you find another way to complete the order through checkout.
6.1 Charged twice?
Sometimes a failed attempt shows as a temporary hold on your statement. Holds normally disappear on their own after your bank releases them. If you see two completed charges for one order, email us with the order number and the dates, and we will check and refund any duplicate.
7. Refunds go back the way you paid
When a refund is due, for example after a return within 60 days of delivery or a cancellation within 24 hours, we issue it within 7 days of receiving the return or confirming the cancellation. It goes back to the original payment method unless you ask for store credit, which never expires. Your bank then posts it to your account on its own schedule. Full details are on the Refund Policy page.
8. Paying for someone else’s gift
You can pay for a mug that ships to someone else. Enter your own billing details in the payment section and the recipient’s name and address as the shipping address. The receipt and order emails go to you, not to the recipient, and no prices are printed on anything inside the parcel.
9. Team and group orders
If you are buying several mugs for a workplace or a school, such as a set of nurse mugs for a ward or teacher mugs from a class, one person places the order and pays for all items in one checkout. We do not split one order across several payers. If your group wants to pay separately, each person can place their own order; shipping is free on each one.
10. Receipts and invoices
Your order confirmation email works as your receipt: it lists the items, the personalisation notes, the price of each item, free shipping and the total in US dollars. If you need a copy for expenses, for example for a team gift paid from a workplace budget, email us with the order number and we will resend it.
11. Store credit as a way to pay
If you returned a mug and chose store credit instead of a refund, that credit is a balance you can use on a later order. It equals the full price of the returned item and never expires. Mention your store credit in an email before you order, or use it as instructed in the email we sent when the credit was issued. If your new order costs more than your credit, you pay the difference with one of the options shown at checkout; if it costs less, the rest of the credit stays available for next time. Store credit is not exchanged for cash.
12. Common payment questions
Do you add any fees at checkout?
No. There is no shipping charge, no personalisation fee and no handling fee. The total you see is the price of the products. Any currency conversion fee comes from your bank, not from us.
Why does my bank show a slightly different amount?
If your account is in another currency, your bank converts the US dollar total on the day the payment is processed. The converted amount can differ slightly from what an online currency converter showed you earlier, and the same applies when a refund is converted back.
Can I pay later or in instalments?
Only if an option like that appears on the checkout page for your order. We do not arrange payment plans by email.
Can I pay by bank transfer, cheque or cash?
No. Orders are paid only through the options shown at checkout, so that payment and your order are linked securely.
Is my order confirmed if the payment is still pending?
Not yet. We start printing only after payment is complete. If an order stays at pending payment, it is not in production; complete the payment or place the order again.
Can a company pay for a team order?
Yes, as long as the payment is made through checkout. Enter the company’s billing details in the payment section and the delivery address for the mugs. We can resend the order confirmation for expense records.
13. Before you pay: a quick check
Paying is the last step, so it is a good moment to look over the order once more. Make sure the size and colour in the order summary are the ones you meant, that every name in the Order notes is spelt the way its owner spells it, and that the shipping address is complete. For photo designs, have the original photo ready to send by replying to your order confirmation email. A careful minute here saves a change request later, although you can still change or cancel within 24 hours of ordering.
If the total looks different from what you expected, compare the price of each item with its product page: the larger 15 oz mugs and 30 oz tumblers cost a little more than the smaller sizes, and sets such as the Mr & Mrs mugs are priced as one product. Shipping should always show as free.
14. Questions about paying
